Head and Assistant Teacher

What skills do you need?
  • A flair for working with children and a lively, enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • If possible, a completed undergraduate degree
  • An adult attitude, empathy and common sense
  • Team spirit
  • Initiative
  • Very good knowledge of German or Swiss German for our camps in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, or very good knowledge of French for our camps in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (oral fluency, good understanding)
What is your role?

You are responsible for the safety and well-being of the children and especially for providing them with an unforgettable camp experience.

As Head-Teacher
  • Together with the Assistant Teachers, you will safely and practically set up the respective venues and prepare for the day
  • you lead the lessons for up to 25 children
  • you keep your group on course
  • you give the assistant teachers a clear direction and structure
  • you take over the tasks around the check-in of the children and the communication with parents and our back office in smaller camps
As an assistant teacher
  • you support Head Teacher / Camp Manager in their tasks
  • provide individual assistance to children during the lessons
  • you bring children who have lost the thread back on track
  • you have an open eye for misconduct or disturbances and intervene constructively and purposefully
When and where can you get involved?

Our 3-day camps take place primarily during school vacations. This is in the whole of Switzerland and also in your area. At some locations we also offer camps on afternoons and Saturdays during school weeks.

Working at Code Camp is very compatible with your studies or gives you the opportunity to pursue another meaningful activity in addition to your job and family. Your workload is flexible and we plan together for the next quarter. In order to "stay on the ball" and to keep the necessary security in teaching, we expect a minimum of 5 camps per year (i.e. at least 15 working days). Additional assignments are of course possible.

Camp Manager

What skills do you need?
  • A degree as a teacher or educator
  • Successfully completed first aid course (including asthma and allergy)
  • The ability to motivate a team of up to 10 members
  • Experienced in dealing with parents and children, well organised and enthusiastic
  • Programming knowledge is not required
What is your role?

The Camp Manager is the main point of contact for parents. They will contact you first if there are any concerns or issues during camp. The Camp Manager

  • is responsible for first aid
  • Keeps registrations and deregistrations up to date
  • Ensures contact with the responsible people at the respective event location
  • Ensures the necessary flow of information to Code Camp's back office

Camp Managers may also be requested by a Head-Teacher to assist, such as assisting with a child with poor behavior or caring for a sick child.
